About Course
CBSE Class 10 Science guidelines dictate an 80-20 marking scheme (80 marks for the annual board exam and 20 marks for internal assessment). Students must write answers strictly section-wise (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), as unorganized or mixed responses will not be evaluated.
1. Exam & Answer Writing Rules
- Section-wise Division: The board enforces strict section-wise answer writing. The answer booklet must be divided into clearly marked sections for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- No Crossing Over: Answers must be written only in their respective sections. Mixing subjects or writing an answer in the wrong section will result in zero marks for that question, even if the content is correct.
- Competency-Based Focus: The question paper tests Knowledge (50%), Application of Concepts (30%), and Analysis/Evaluation (20%). Expect case-based questions, reasoning, and data interpretation.
2. Marking & Assessment Structure
- Annual Theory Exam: 80 Marks. Includes 12 marks explicitly dedicated to practical-based questions.
- Internal Assessment: 20 Marks, which includes:
- Periodic Assessments: 10 marks (based on the average of the best two out of three periodic tests).
- Practical/Lab Work: 5 marks (continuous assessment of practicals completed throughout the year).
- Portfolio/Assignments: 5 marks (classwork, homework, and regular upkeep of practical records).
- Passing Criteria: Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks separately in theory and practicals to pass the subject.
3. Preparation & Practical Resources
- Syllabus & Blueprints: Always refer to the latest CBSE Academic Curriculum to check chapter-wise weightage and the exact list of mandated practical experiments.
- Sample Papers: Utilize the CBSE Academic Circulars page to view and solve past and official Sample Question Papers to master the required answer presentation and sectioning.
